Directing Attorney Ad Litem to Advocate for Foster Youth to Attend Court Hearings
As my attorney ad litem, you are an attorney who provides legal services to me, and you owe me the duties of undivided loyalty, confidentiality, and competent representation. TEX. FAM. CODE ANNOTATED 107.001 (2).
You must represent my expressed objectives of representation and follow my expressed objectives of representation. TEX. FAM. CODE ANNOTATED 107.004 (a)(2).
I want to attend court hearings in my CPS case. I want you to let the court know I want to attend the hearings and that I want the court to order those involved to make the necessary arrangements so I can attend those hearings. If the court does not readily agree that I can attend the hearings, statutory and CPS policies support my attendance at my court hearings. I want you to present these provisions to the court and seek a formal ruling. Please see: Right of Foster Youth to Attend Court Hearing Legal Memorandum .
If you make a request for me to go to court hearings and it is denied, I want you to discuss the court's decision with me and then discuss whether or not you should appeal that decision and get a higher level court to review the decision.
